Russia started the war in Ukraine with the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula and, consequently, the peace can be settled after the territory is libarated, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.
“It all started with this [the occupation of Crimea]. [The peninsula’s] return [to Ukraine] will mean the rebirth of the true peace, ” said Zelensky during the Crimea Platform parliamentary summit.
The president reminded that Russia uses the territory for its aggressive actions against Ukraine and as a threat to peace in other countries.
“Crimea has to be liberated from being used by Russia. Then the people around the world will feel more safe,” the president said.
He also drew attention to other territories, including Transnistria and Abkhazia, which had been subjected to Russian invasion, emphasizing the need for their liberation.
